Isabel (Belly)’s mom and Conrad’s mom have been best friends for a very long time. Their families have been visiting a beach house in Cousins since before the kids were born. Belly is 16 now and she’s come into her own. Her brother Steven and Conrad’s brother Jeremiah also are at the house.
This book was an ok read, but Belly's pining and obsessing over Conrad got old at times. It was a mixture of flashbacks and present day to understand what happened during the summers she "wasn't pretty" (aka the brothers didn't notice her) and now (when they see her as a girl and not necessarily as a kind of younger sister. She also has a best "friend" who just ground on my nerves because she was pushy and always looking out for herself but in a way to make Belly feel guilty (and the friend seemed a bit narcissistic). Belly meets some guy named Cam in the book too, and I'm not entirely sure what his purpose was other than to show that the two brothers both kind of have feelings for Belly?
It was a cute little read, though, and the storyline about the bother's mom Susanna was both heartwarming and tragic.
