Yet another book I thought I’d read a chapter of after I got it on an Amazon special and it sucked me in.
Erin is the daughter of wealthy parents who is dealing with tr fallout in her personal life from a pretty traumatic event. She was planning to go to grad school, but instead is the new “client liaison” (newly created position) for her dad’s company. Her new boss is none too pleased that he gets to supervise the boss’ daughter.
Isaac is a well-educated guy who is not really wanting to supervise the boss’ daughter. He’s there for other reasons and babysitting isn’t one of them. He also doesn’t think the spoiled little rich girl can take care of the whining, spoiled clients that aren’t happy.
Imagine both of their surprise when she not only does the job, but is awesome at the job. Imagine even bigger surprises when Erin is falling for her boss.
There’s just one problem. Isaac has other motivations for being there. Erin is off-limits because of her racist grandparents that Isaac has a bone to pick with from something that happened before he was born. (Isaac is black, Erin is white)
Isaac makes some startling discoveries, there’s a big family blowup, and a few twists here and there. Overall it was a quick and easy, if mostly predictable, read. It did have a happily ever after ending, which was nice.
300 pages (and it completes my 15 book goal for 2017!)
